FlexiSpot Comhar Pro Standing Desk Q8 review

The FlexiSpot Comhar Pro Standing Desk Q8 is an updated version of the All-in-One Standing Desk we reviewed last year. It adds a built in wireless charger (through the desk,) some cable management, two motors for smoother lift, a 40% larger drawer, and can lift 220 pounds.

You’re going to want to sit down for this review, no wait… stand… no… nevermind… the joke is only vaguely funny when said rapidly in person…

We’re going to skip the potential health benefits and all and let’s just assume you already think you know why you want a standing desk.

You might not have considered that a standing or adjustable desk is an absolute requirement for your 7yo and 9yo to have… much business. Yeah, that’s what the one at home has become (other than a standing desk,) – buttons 2 & 3 are devoted to kid business time, and adjust a normally adult desk to the proper height for whatever business the kids are in that day.

From an IT guy standpoint it’s kind of nice when someone comes in and you want to show them something that you can lift the whole desk up with a tap or two and not have someone bending over your chair.

But generally getting up and standing for a few minutes an hour while still being engaged in whatever you’re engaged in tends to lower the distraction and desire to go and lay down and take a nap is what I’ve found.

Setup

I received the FlexiSpot Comhar Pro Standing Desk Q8 to replace my work desk at the office. Setup and install was not a breeze, but that’s not because of any defect in the desk, just finding space to assemble a desk and all the packing material that went with it was a challenge. I ended up assembling in a conference room because I needed approximately 2.5x the desk space to assemble it.

I probably could have assembled it with less space if I had help, but that was not the case.

There was one head-scratcher moment in the instructions and that was how to place the center covering (baffle) over the black inverter. That’s the black thing dead center of the underside of the desk.

Nowhere in the instructions does it say “look for the 4 screws that are in the white rail and slightly backed out, hook into screws.” Thus ends my only complaint with the manual – picture of where the screw hooks are below. I mean I guess that hand on the right sort of indicates that but it didn’t translate for me.

That was my only slowdown with the assembly and that may be operator error.

I additionally got the wheels for the unit as I wanted to be able to roll it. Three out of four wheels went in without any resistance and I could hand screw them in. The fourth it appeared there was a tad of powder coat paint slowing it but using the included wrench it was fine.

I personally used a power drill and some a hex bit to speed up install, but all tools were included and nothing required any force.

In other words, assembly was as painless as I believe it could be.

Your cables only reach so far. Set up your monitor, keyboard (if wired,) etc at the highest you’ll ever go or you’ll find out when you reach there for some reason that you’ve pulled your video card clean out of your computer that was sitting on the ground.

Totally didn’t happen to me, but almost did. I’m kind of wishing there was an under-desk computer rack for this as I’ve got it on wheels and could move everything at once,

I have worked with or at five standing desks now, two of which are mine and three are other people’s. The included under-table wireless charger makes this stand out slightly, and the charging options are a plus. The drawer is a real plus.

I like it and am a fan of standing desks whether or not they have real health benefits, they’re keeping me from falling asleep at work and a little more focused, but that may just be me. At the current price however you might want to investigate whether this one is in your budget, or whether you could handle a slightly smaller version with no wireless charging and a lighter lift capacity.
